Bulls Island South Carolina

So looks like I took another blogging break! This time was not on purpose however. They changed blogger and it only works from my home laptop which I don't use all that often. Well it looks like I will have to start using it huh? :)

A few saturdays ago my friend and workout buddy Shannon headed to Bulls Island South Carolina. It was about a 40 minute drive from James Island. A few friends of mine had gone before and said it was a must do experience. SO we went!

You take a 30 minute ferry ride from the landing which was beautiful first thing in the am. Oh and the ferry left the landing at 9am. We got to the island and decided to explore the island before we hit the beach. Let me just say BAD IDEA!! We were all alone mind you because everyone else headed right to the beach. So here we are 2 girls alone in the woods haha nothing bad happened besides being seriously attacked by horse flies and mosquitos. We were losing our minds and it was hot and we were over it. Not to mention our legs and shoes were covered in dirt by this point. We decided to head to the beach. I will say if the bugs were not bad we would have spent a ton more time hiking in the woods but there was just NO way. I think if you had a bee suit or something like it you would be good to go. So we headed to the beach and on the way we got to see some gators. That was really cool we even saw a baby gator just chillen in the water. So we got to the beach which they named Boneyard Beach. This makes everything we went through before worth it. It was absolutely beautiful and so quiet. One thing I should mention the only way to this island is the ferry and not many people go. So you basically see nobody the whole time well most of the time anyway. We ended up laying on the beach for awhile eating our yummy oranges. Then we explored the beach and seriously it was just like nothing I had ever seen before. We spent more time on the beach but we did explore the island a little more before we left. So we were headed back to catch the 4pm ferry. Yes we were out there from 9-4. So we are walking making sure the gators are not moving and I about stepped on a darn snake! Shannon ended up throwing things at it and we waited for it to move. So we continued on our way to the ferry. We saw 2 more snakes on the way. Keep in mind this is 3 snakes in a 10minute time frame. NO THANKS! by the time we saw the 3rd snake I was DONE. I wanted off the island! haha Once we got to the car all we could think about was food. We talked about food for most of the way home so we ended up getting the biggest fry wendys could provide and chowed down on the way home.

I would say this is a definite must do attraction in Charleston. But take lots of water and bug spray oh and wear very comfy shoes! You will literally walk and walk and walk! Below are all the pics we took throughout the day! Such a great time and I really can't wait to do it again! I will just be more prepared next time :)

Well that is all for now! :) I will try and do this more often! Hope you guys are doing wonderfully!! :)

NYC Trip

Well better late than never I say! It hasn't even been a month so I guess it really isn't THAT late :)

So here is the recap of my NYC weekend!

I left on a Friday. Kelly took me to the airport and we had breakfast at the Early Bird Diner first which is amazing food! I got to the airport an hour early then heard they were giving away $400 vouchers from Delta to give up my seat on the first flight. So of course I was like have my seat and show me the voucher! Yes I will now be flying to STL for free later this year. Thank you Delta! So I ended up leaving charleston an hour later then was supposed to have an hr layover in DC. Well I got to DC went to get my seat assignment and they shoved me on an earlier flight. I was literally in the DC airport for all of 5 mins if that. I got to NYC at around 4 found my luggage and took a taxi by myself for the very first time ever. Yes I was terrified but it was an ok experience minus the fact that it was like $40! Anywho he dropped me off at The Wall Street Journal building (where my cousin works) and I sat there for a bit while he finished up the day. Afterwards, we left and went to an irish pub for a beer with a few of his friends. After that we walked around Bryant Park and saw the library where Carrie and Mr. Big were supposed to be married. If you are a Sex and the City fan then you know what I am talking about. We then got on the subway (another first for me) and headed to his tiny apartment. Holy cow their rent is INSANE and the place is tiny. It just makes no sense in my mind because I am used to nice big apartments for under $1,000. That night we went to dinner at Ruths Chris steakhouse and let me just say that was THE BEST steak I have ever put in my mouth. He had a giftcard otherwise that dinner would have NEVER happened. We had a bottle of wine too so by the end of dinner this girl was TIRED. I know I know a friday night in NYC and I am tired before 11. SAD! In my defense I had traveled a lot that day and the little bit we had already done wore me out.

Me in front of the library :)

Us in front of a fountain at Bryant Park

Saturday we woke up kinda early and had breakfast then headed out into the park. We spent about 2 hours and covered a TON of ground. I loved the park and next time I definitely want to spend more time in it but seriously it was awesome. oh and talk about a workout holy cow! Let's just say this southern girl is not used to hills.

One of the many gorgeous trees in the park

This is the Alice in Wonderland statue. funny thing about this picture is I yelled at a guy who would NOT move. Scott wondered why he looked at me funny but hello people are trying to take a picture MOVE YOUR @$$! Bad enough I had to get his kids in my picture! Good times lol

This picture is absolutely gorgeous! I loved this bridge!

The famous Boathouse restaraunt!

The Central Park Castle! Too cool!

The upclose picture like this is not blog worthy! Lets just say Sara still looked half asleep :)

After the park we got ready and went to see the Broadway show Phantom of the Opera. It was FANTASTIC!!! I had never been to a broadway show before and it definitely didn't disappoint. After that we went shopping at H&M, Hit up China Town for a fake rolex and perfume, walked through little Italy and had dinner at a Belgian pub. OH and we went shopping in Times Square!

Sunday we woke up early took a 30 min subway ride to get on the Staten Island Ferry. It was dreary and cold this day but we still had a good time. We rode the ferry, walked around where the World Trade Center Towers were, walked wall street, did some touristy shopping, Ate ridiculously large pizza and the tiniest yummiest cupcakes of my life. I headed to the airport about 5 that afternoon and headed home!

This one got out of order but this is me at Grand Central Station I loveeee that building.

Amazing tribute to the fallen firefighters of 9/11

This church simply took my breath away. It was/is right across the street from where the towers fell. Apparently it was the ONLY building within a rather large radius that had zero damage. And people don't believe in God?? How can you not??

Well that is my NYC trip in a nutshell. I could post a ton more pictures and alot more words but this will do for now :) I can't wait to go back! I may go around Christmas because I have always wanted to see NYC at Christmas!

Happy Tuesday! :)

Almost a month

Holy cow it has almost been a month since my last blog! I feel like a ton has happened since then. Some amazing times and some I would rather forget ever happened! I went to New York City to visit my cousin 2 weekends ago and it was a blast! I definitely would never want to live there but it was a good time for a weekend. I will have to do a post of just NYC especially since there were a good bit of pictures. I did include a few on this post! :) Other than NY life has been busy with the usual! Spending a ton of time in the gym as always and hanging out with friends. I would say one major thing was I went back brunette. Main reason was to get my hair healthy again since the blonde fried my hair. I even had to cut it a little bit but hey I would rather have shorter brown healthier hair then blonde fried not so cute hair!

My view of Manhattan from the Staten Island Ferry

This was the view of some of the city from a top of hill in Central Park! Talk about a view and this picture does it ZERO justice!

This my friends would be NYC pizza! Holy cow I could barely pick it up to even think to eat it.

SEEEEEE! haha

Spending time with Laura! We passed the Oscar Mayer Weiner mobile so we had to stop! The kind gentleman from Fazolis took our picture! :) Thanks guys!

OH and we had fun that night making fun of engagement pictures with the hearts! It took us forever to not have our hands look like a potato! haha

SUCCESS!!!

NEW HAIR! I miss my blonde but this works for now! Most people around work this week have told me they like this better! So at least I know it looks good :) We shall see how long it stays this color! I may not enjoy change in life but my hair color is the only exception!

Hope you all are doing fantastic! Hopefully I can catch up with everyone elses blogs sometime soon!! Hopefully I will also do my NYC post! We shall see :)
