Pumpkin Patch

This past weekend was our first weekend in the new house with the kids. We got them early Friday because Alayna was sick and couldn't be at work with her mom. Sure is funny how as soon as we got home she was perfectly fine haha We spent the afternoon outside, them riding bikes and us doing stuff in the yard/cars/garage.

We added 2 chairs and a lovely yellow flower to our front yard which I absolutely love. I do plan once the spring comes to get some flowers in that front flower bed but for now it will stay with shrubs.
While the kids were playing out back we had a few injuries like a goose egg that turned into a black eye. Nothing like a good sword fight with your sister huh?

Story time and bed. Saturday we had soccer, boys got hair cuts, we played and did a little shopping. We also put up more pictures in the house. We are ALMOST done!!
Sunday after church we went to Legare Farms to the pumpkin patch. It was hot, there were tons of people and the pumpkins were majorly picked over but we still enjoyed it. The kids said they loved it so that makes it worth it. Next year we may do Boone Hall, if I am going to deal with crowds we may as well go there.

My little family, I love this picture. I normally hate to ask a stranger to take pictures for me but I am glad I did. Thank you kind stranger for the cute family photo.

 They rode horses...

Climbed trees...

Saw lots of animals and fed some cows....

Logan was the only one brave enough to feed the cows.... can you say SLOBBER!!!

It really was quite beautiful out there.

I love this husband of mine!

We stopped by the pumpkin patch to get a big pumpkin but the ones they had were all messed up so we got 2 little ones which was fine. We wanted to carve a pumpkin though, maybe next year.

It was a good weekend with the kids but I am SO ready for cooler days.
We are going to Carrowinds this weekend so that should be fun. I can't wait to see all the Halloween decorations and spend some time with Dave and Lola. Depending how Carrowinds goes we will be going to IKEA. Lots of fun to be had!!

Homeowners

Well as of October 17th sometime close to noon we became homeowners. This really has not set in yet honestly but I assume it will at some point. We have been busy trying to get the house all set up and are very thankful to my parents for their help! If they had not helped us lord only knows how things would look at this point.
This was the Friday before the move, I had a full weekend of packing all our stuff in boxes.
Sunrise Saturday morning was absolutely beautiful while I was out walking Teddy.

Saturday afternoon we went to get the Uhaul which was massive. I thought for sure we wouldn't even come close to filling it. I was wrong.

See. Told you I was wrong. We had some family and our friend Mike help us pack this beast. It took about 2 hours if I remember correctly. Sad thing is, we didn't even put EVERYTHING in it. My car was full of valuable/fragile things, we also ended up Monday putting stuff in moms car and Daves car too. AND still made one more trip Tuesday. I can't even imagine how bad it would have been if I had not given a LOT of our stuff to Goodwill. In the last month I have probably gone to Goodwill at least 5 times and took a bunch of stuff each time.

After packing the Uhaul we took Mike over to see the house, ran by Lowes then had some yummy pizza at Pieology. We love this place, seriously addicted. In fact we ate there last night with Mike again but this time also with Ashley and the boys!

Our last night in the apartment, sleeping on the floor.

We had mom take this picture before closing because we knew we wouldn't have time or look good later. I was right!

I took off mon-wed and then worked until noon Thurs and Fri so we could get the house as together as possible before we got the kids on Friday. Again SO thankful for all the help we received, Dave and I truly are blessed!

We have been hanging pictures, trying to find homes for things, cleaning and trying to figure out sprinklers. I don't know why but when it comes to the sprinklers I am dumb. I try, Dad showed me, Dave showed me but yet I still have issues. I may water my neighbors yards too and the entire side of my house but gosh darnit my yard will get water on it.

Adventures in homeownership commencing.....

Hurricane Matthew

Last week was ALL about Hurricane Matthew and this week has been all about the aftermath. We worked Monday and Tuesday then had the rest of the week off due to the hurricane. The governor ordered evacuations and I am SO thankful the military decided we didn't HAVE to leave. They did evacuate the bases but since we don't live on them we were good. I won't lie though once we got closer to Friday and the track wasn't moving as East as we wanted I started to get nervous. Dave and my parents both made me feel alright about staying and I am so glad I listened to them. Leaving Charleston wouldn't have been that bad but I heard people say it took 7 hours to get back from Greenville which should take max 4. We had a little fun before the storm though....
They are doing this CFC campaign at work to raise money and they did a compliment event. This is the one my husband had delivered to me. It definitely was a bright point in my day!
Wednesday morning we had our final walk through on our house then after we headed to the AFB to workout. There was maybe 10 people in there so it was really quiet and nice. We hung out the rest of the day at home.

Thursday after lunch we met up with my friend Melinda and her niece at the N. Charleston Riverfront Park. We all wanted to get out before the storm to help cabin fever not be as bad plus it was still nice outside besides some wind and clouds.

We walked around and just enjoyed the afternoon while Dave walked around playing Pokémon. Apparently this park is a prime location for Pokémon playing.
We got an early dinner then stayed home the rest of the day. Friday I woke up early, took Teddy for a long walk, we hit up Target and grabbed his buddies truck then chilled the rest of the day. The weather started to get bad Friday evening so we knew we were staying put after moving our cars to a better parking spot. Where we normally park has TONS of big trees around so we moved them to a better location.
All Friday night and Saturday morning this is what I was watching, I wanted to stay informed. I was able to get some good sleep though and so did Dave so that was a win.

We drove around Saturday afternoon to check out the neighborhood and went to check on the new house. There were trees down and water but nothing major near us.

This was the only thing wrong at the new house, a bent tree.

Poor baby squirrel I saw Saturday afternoon, I was too scared to touch it because the other squirrels were near by. Hopefully it was ok. I read online there were TONS of baby squirrels that people took to shelters, thanks to the winds they fell out their nests.

Sunday we went to my parents house to hang out with the family! Then Monday we packed, worked out and just chilled.

We were supposed to close on our house yesterday but the hurricane put a lot of things behind. We are scheduled for Monday at this point. IF inspections happened yesterday there is a slight chance for tomorrow but I highly doubt it at this point. I told Dave to just go ahead and bank on Monday. It definitely have been inconvenient and stressful BUT things could be worse so I am trying to stay as positive as I possibly can. I am struggling but I am trying! Soon we will be all settled in and all this will be behind us....

Hopefully my next post is about us moving in!
