I normally do not post recipes but this one I have to share, plus when I lose the one on my phone I can refer back to this post. Win win!
This past Sunday I made truffles but using another recipe that was pretty yummy/easy to follow but good lord it took forever. They were funfetti, easy to mix and all that jazz but just a bit too sweet for me and that is saying something.
So I decided I didn't want to make those again and started browsing pinterest for other ideas. I came across a recipe for oreo truffles, sounded easy so I went for it.
I braved Target on Monday (what was I thinking) to get all the ingredients and made them yesterday.
So what you need:
Makes about 24 truffles
1 package (8oz) of cream cheese
1 package of oreos (whichever you like)
melting chocolate ( go for the big bag NOT the small like I did)
*You can add sprinkles OR you could maybe get milk chocolate to melt then drizzle on the truffles at the end*
Note: I have found that Ghirardelli white chocolate is the best
Step 1: Take cream cheese out the fridge and let it soften, I think mine sat for an hour
Step 2:"destroy" the oreos with your blender
Step 3: mix the oreos and the cream cheese together. A lot of recipes said to use a spoon but I used my hands and it was 10 times easier, messier, but easier!
Step 4: Put the mix in the fridge for about 30 minutes to harden up
Step 5: Use an ice cream scoop or any spoon to scoop out the mixture and make them into balls.
Make sure you put them on wax paper or they will stick.
My suggestion is to make sure they are 1inch or less. These are SWEET so you don't want to feel sick after eating just one. Plus the recipe would not make as many.
Step 6: Put them back in the fridge for about an hour OR you could do the freezer for 30 minutes
Step 7: Melt your chocolate, I used the microwave and did 30 second increments just to avoid it burning and it melted in less than a minute.
Step 8: dip the truffles in the chocolate and put on wax paper for them to harden up. Before the chocolate hardens if you are adding sprinkles this is the time to do it. If you are doing chocolate drizzle you can wait until you are done dipping them all.
Step 9: Enjoy!
Try not to eat all of them! I had to remind myself these truffles were made with an ENTIRE container of oreos!
I will be making another batch today because Dave said he had to be able to have some for the house haha clearly they are boyfriend approved!
If you try them let me know if you liked them! Also, I do not claim this recipe as my own, I followed one online I found but providing step by step how I did them!
Merry Christmas EVE everyone!!!
I will be at church pretty much all night serving which is a first for me but I am really looking forward to it.
