The CodFather

Last weekend started off on a super yummy note! We met up with our Newmans Friday evening for dinner at a new place called The Codfather. This place was a hole in the wall and off the beaten path but oh my goodness it was so good. Now their menu is super small I am talking you can get fish, chips, gravy and mashed peas. We all got the fish and chips for $10 which was amazing and the portion was quite large! I would say absolutely worth it especially for the fun british atmosphere!

After dinner Dave and I decided to go catch Pokémon at the North Charleston Riverfront Park. I only agreed to this because I was feeling super full and knew I could use a good 30+ minute walk around to at least burn a few of the calories I had consumed. It was super hot but we both really enjoyed getting to walk around. We are so lucky to have such beautiful parks so close by!

(This is the bed, end tables and the dresser we got is behind Dave and we got everything in black)

Saturday was stressful for me, I should note I hate spending money, truly hate it! We worked out, went and got my eyebrows waxed then went furniture shopping. I bet you can see why I now said it was stressful, we picked out a bed, mattress, end tables and a dresser which we LOVE but holy crap that was expensive!! We both decided to just chill Saturday night after being in the store for over 2 hours, so chill is exactly what we did!

Sunday I went to church then met back up at home with Dave. We went to JI to hang with the fam, see my sisters new house, then off to Lowes for fridge shopping! You can see those two goofballs above were a little bored but we looked at paint too which was nice!

It was a good weekend besides my dwindling bank account haha this weekend will be our last without kids but truth be told we miss them so we are looking forward to the next weekend! We will have them a fri-fri so hopefully it will be sunny and there will be lots of pool time happening!

DIY Project

Two weekends ago Dave and I decided while the kids were gone we would take that time to get their beds painted. We had wanted to buy them new beds for the new house but after pricing them out it just wasn't going to happen.
We took both beds apart and drove them down to my parents house to get to work.

It took 2 afternoons to finish mainly because Saturday afternoon it stormed so we stopped. So 8 hours that is with both of us working on it and $57 later we had 2 awesome looking beds!

I think they turned out really great and hopefully the kids like them when they get home in a few weeks! This was definitely a project and we were wore out but it saved us a ton of money and there definitely is some satisfaction from doing something like this yourself when you look at the finished product. We gave ourselves a big pat on the back and agree to never do a project like this outside in July ever again!

VBS 2016

Last week our church held their week of VBS and it turned out so great. I had only signed up to help on Friday with the closing party but Dave did security Tues, Wed, and Fri so I ended up going the other days with him. I am SO glad I did because I had a really good time and they needed some help so I was able to step in where needed.
Even doing something as small as filling up cups with lemonade or putting cupcakes on a plate can make a difference. I filled so many cups with lemonade and water it's crazy.

I also got to spend some time with my sis and nieces which was nice! On Tuesday I got to be with Lolas group for a little bit which was fun. I think she liked having me there and I liked being there with her!

They had a huge inflatable slide so we HAD to try it once we saw other adults having fun before VBS started.

Friday they had the closing party which was great and included lots of cute animals in the petting zoo.  I swear the sheep with the hat looks like Teddy, it was crazy!

And of course we had to do the slide AGAIN because it was just too much fun to pass up!

Next year I will probably volunteer the entire week especially if the kids end up getting to come which we are going to try and make happen. Their mom thinks they would have a blast and I agree so HOPEFULLY they will get to come and we can just have them the whole week to make it easier.

Very fun, very rewarding and we got to know more people and got to know some we already knew a little better.

4th of July Fun

Second part of the weekend here..
Sunday we had church in the morning then headed home to hang out for a bit before heading to my parents house. We initially planned to just chill inside but I decided I needed some more Vitamin D. The kids and I headed to the pool and there weren't many people there which was great.

This past weekend Alayna got brave and started to swim off the steps and did really well THEN she decided to jump in (without swimmies) and did so good. It is amazing how quickly she went from swimmies and only staying on the stairs to being so confident swimming around without them.

My nieces spent the night Sunday night which was fun! We were supposed to go to a 4th of July party on Monday but Logan had been coughing so much and I felt like I was getting sick (which I was). So we hung out inside most of the day besides an hour at the pool before heading over to JI.

We all went to the Yacht club for fireworks. It was great in theory until the fireworks didn't start until after 9:30 and I had a whiney 6 year old. Luckily mom offered to take us home before it was over and before Alayna became more whiney/crying. I have come to the conclusion that she is at a stage where her bedtime needs to be consistent and until further notice we will make sure we are home no later than 9 for our sanity! haha

Besides the little bit of time past 9:30 we had a really nice time out there with the family! It was beautiful after the 10 minute storm that showed up when we first got there. The kids had a blast playing and enjoyed just hanging out!

Tuesday I layed around all day because I was sick no clue if it was a cold or sinus infection but talk about miserable. It is Friday and luckily the only thing lingering is the cough so while not 100% better I will take the 75% better that I feel now. I have missed my workouts too which I hate. I did a mile on the treadmill yesterday on a break from work and decided that was a bad idea. So I may even just wait until tomorrow to jump back on the workout wagon.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
